AT Rehearsal and Performance (or “R&P for short) is the class for anyone who wants to feel like a real, actual, WORKING actor again.
This class is ideal for early-career actors who are anxious to dig into work, who are looking to perform full songs in a more serious (but safe!) setting, who are looking to collaborate with other artists and to get new footage for their websites and social media.
Each session focuses on a different area - whether that be a specific COMPOSER (Sondheim, Schwartz, Rodgers & Hammerstein, etc) or a THEME (radio music, comedy songs, Female MT writers, etc). To be the first to know what our next class will be, follow us on Instagram!

Five (5) two-hour classes (on a selected day, once per week), where each student gets 10-15 minutes of working time.
Classes will be taught by a rotating roster of Teaching Artists, who have demonstrated experience in the class subject (e.g. Lindsay Mendez teaching Sondheim, Julia Murney teaching comedy songs, etc).
During CLASS 1, students have a mock audition (as though auditioning for a musical revue of songs by that session’s composer[s]), singing from their own books and practicing a strategic audition (what songs do you pick to encourage the folx behind the table to see you for the material you see for yourself?) Students will then be “cast”* in two or more songs by the composer(s) and will be assigned that material to work on throughout the 5-week session. *Please note that all songs/roles are open to students of all gender identities.
In classes 2-5, Students will coach the material with Actor Therapy staff & special guest teachers, rehearse their final performance, and then present their material to an audience of invited friends/family and guests from the Actor Therapy community.
PLEASE NOTE: in recent R&P sessions, we’ve held a fully-staged concert at a venue such as 54 Below, Green Room 42, or Don’t Tell Mama for our final performance. While our intention is to continue booking these performances, they are not guaranteed and should not be considered a requisite of taking the class.
Class Themes & Dates for Session 77 (Sept. 8th-Oct.16th, 2025) and Session 78 (Oct.27th-Dec.4th, 2025) will be announced soon!
