ACTOR THERAPY’S MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES

Mission Statement

Actor Therapy is a groundbreaking training program created to nurture and enrich musical theatre artists at any stage in their careers. Through our group class format, which focuses on audition technique, book building, and individualized career strategy, we prepare our student artists to confidently navigate working and living in New York City.

Vision Statement

Actor Therapy aims to establish a vibrant and essential community that facilitates comprehensive personalized growth for artists as they strive for a long and versatile career.

This includes the cultivation of meaningful lifelong connections with fellow artists and mentors, as well as fostering and producing new work.

Core Values

  • We strive to develop an inclusive environment for all artists to establish and navigate their careers as their most authentic selves.

  • We challenge artists to maximize their potential, identify their comfort zones and safely push their boundaries.

  • We embrace, uplift, and nurture a community for artists of all gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, body types, religions, physical abilities, socio-economic statuses, and educational backgrounds.

  • We aim to consistently develop safe creative spaces by calling into question our industry's harmful history and practices, challenging and disrupting patterns of institutionalized oppression and inequity, and encouraging community accountability and open dialogue between faculty, students, and staff.

  • We celebrate theatre as a collaborative art form, inspiring artists to harness their passion for storytelling in service of building community and strengthening human connections.
