Actor Therapy is a premier NYC training program for musical theatre performers who…
Feel lost in the audition scene and need clear guidance.
Want to revamp their audition book with fresh, exciting material.
Are ready to build a sustainable, goal-focused career strategy.
Seek inspiration to push boundaries and make their mark in the industry.
At AT, our mission is to hold a mirror up to you, the artist. We bridge the gap between your energy, voice, look, and authenticity, helping you market yourself in a way that feels both strategic and true to who YOU are.
Half our time is spent honing the SAVVY ACTOR ... While the other half nurtures the CREATIVE ARTIST inside.
And most importantly? We’ll NEVER tell you who you are — that’s for you to decide. We’re here to guide you toward your next breakthrough.
Actor Therapy is your artistic home base. It’s a place for:
Feedback from master teacher artists working at the highest level of our industry.
Inspiration from pros and peers alike through our master classes and business seminars.
Community with our thriving network of thousands of past and present students.
Opportunities in our readings, concerts, and AT New Works Initiatives.
Taking your first class is just the beginning. Once you’re with us, you’re part of a lifelong community dedicated to supporting your evolution as an artist. We’re always here to challenge, encourage, and uplift you … every step of the way.
FAQs

Our students come from everywhere and have a variety of experience. Some are Equity, some are not; some have Broadway credits, some have just graduated college; we’ve had 18-year-old students and we have had 50-year-old students. While our “usual student” is between 20-30, has some significant performance experience and training and near the start of their careers, everyone is welcome. No matter who you are, we’ll find out what YOU need, and we’ll create your trajectory accordingly.

We hope not! One of the best things about AT is that you hold the power to shape your experience. We focus on running our own race, not competing with others - and our feedback is always based on YOUR unique goals and intentions. Plenty of AT students come to us to “unlearn” toxic mindsets they picked up in past training environments, and we’re proud to have helped countless actors do just that.

While we’ll have no shortage of feedback to give, we believe that the key to handling feedback is learning to decipher what YOU think. This business is full of contradictions, that’s part of what makes it exciting! The key is learning to filter feedback in a way that serves you. When you receive a note, ask yourself, “do I agree with this?” If the answer is “yes”, great! If the answer is “no”, you can let it go, guilt-free.
-
Not at all! While we encourage you to celebrate your authenticity, it’s just one part of who you are as an artist. We’re here to explore the full range of your artistry - so that means working on material that truly resonates with you, beyond any labels or expectations.
-
We’re here to tell you what WE see, decipher if that aligns with what YOU feel, and build from there. While we’re here to offer direction and advice, this journey is led by YOU - meaning you’ll primarily find your own material, build your own list of dream roles, and set your own goals. This is the best way to strengthen your sense of self and sharpen those instincts!
