Our signature 5-week course for building your audition book, strategizing your career, and getting your s*** together.

  • Actor Therapy, or “classic AT”, is our signature program for musical theatre actors looking to invest in their personal, professional, and artistic growth. With a maximum of 10 students per class, you’ll have 10-15 “working minutes” to work on whatever you’d like - try out a few new audition cuts, work on some callback sides, chat about why that last audition didn’t go so great, or work on material from your Dream Roles. Our “choose your own adventure” structure allows you to completely tailor your class time according to your goals - resulting in a tailored, personalized journey fitted uniquely to YOU.

    • Five (5) two-hour classes (on a selected day, once per week), where each student gets 10-15 minutes of working time. We focus on audition cuts/monologues, building your book, song Interpretation, Branding/Type, and more. Classes are held at a major rehearsal studio in midtown Manhattan like Open Jar or AMDA Studios.

    • One or Two Master Teaching Artists teach every class. Each teacher is at the top of their field, from actors and directors to writers, music directors, and activists for social change. Find out more about our incredible roster of master artists here.

    • Free Access to at least 1 Business Class during your session (and/or in the weeks following). Each Business Class features a different topic: things like Networking, Social Media, Producing your Own Work, Managing Money, Surviving as an Actor in NYC, Goal Setting and Making Plans, Self-Taping, Intro to Actors’ Equity, Working Your Way Through Creative “Slumps”, and MORE!

    • Eligibility to participate in AT Readings, which is like the fiercest Book Club in town! We typically will host one Musical and one Play reading per session - you sign up in advance, we “cast” the show, and then we meet in a studio and read the entire show, start to finish. Check out highlight reels from our past readings here!

    • Weekly e-life coaching (via text and email) and a one-on-one phone date with our founder Ryan Scott Oliver, strategizing the next steps in your process .Sometimes a little heart to heart with someone who’s been there makes all the difference! So tell us what’s happening in your job, how you’re getting along with your roomies, how you felt about that last audition, and most importantly, what’s going on in your head! We want you to leave with your laugh a little brighter and your heart a little lighter. Our staff will also stay in touch with you via email and text as you navigate new songs, work on that specificity and figure out who YOU are as an artist.

    • Consideration to perform in our AT concert series (at 54 Below, Green Room 42, or another venue). Casting in our 54 Below concerts is by invitation only, based on students’ work in class—attendance, work ethic, preparation, and community engagement will all be considered.

    • An invitation to our community events - we host hiking retreats, picnics, trivia nights, happy hours, and more!
