A personal, VIRTUAL intensive option for performers preparing for college auditions.

Open to ages 15—19, from June 22nd to July 3rd, 2020.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM. Similar to our NYC-based intensives, EVERY DAY at COLLEGE PREP ONLINE INCLUDES:

  • ACTOR THERAPY (Lindsay Mendez and RSO’s revolutionary musical theatre workshop, working song interpretation, selecting the right “cuts” for auditions, and focusing on every actor as an individual to unlock the artist within)

  • DAILY DANCE training (focusing on Ballet and Theatre Dance)

  • ACTING techniques (Including monologue selection and study — both classic and contemporary)

  • VOICE LESSONS (technique, vocal health and general pedagogy with top NYC voice teachers)

  • A MASTER CLASS with a different Broadway pro every day!

  • … PLUS a finished DEMO REEL! (Starting with a HOW TO class, led by Lindsay Mendez, where students will create their own reels for their website/social media and COLLEGE PRESCREENS!, which will also be distributed to industry professionals.)

An entire intensive? Online? I’m not sure…

We hear you. These are new and unprecedented times, but the show must go on, and we’re here to help you every step of the way! Each morning, students will receive an invite to their class room for the day. In this virtual classroom, students will get a chance to work with each of their instructors AND watch their fellow students. All from the comfort and safety of their own home! The program runs 9AM—6PM Monday—Friday for the two weeks of the program and will include following courses

DAILY DANCE in Ballet with Deanna Doyle and Theatre Dance with Jess LeProtto (daily 9a—10:30a, alternating styles)
Ready to WERK it out? Our fierce dance classes, taught by Broadway dancers and choreographers, will include a warm-up and technique training, as well as multiple combinations from Broadway shows. You KNOW you wanna kick ball change all over that.

ACTING TECHNIQUES with Adam Chanler Berat and Kerstin Anderson (Daily 10:30a—12:30p)
In this class you’ll work on different styles of acting, as well as selecting and working on multiple monologues, ranging from classical to contemporary to Shakespearean. To be or not to be in this class is so NOT the question.

12:30pm—1:30pm, take a break —
or COACH your material with one of our top-rated Music Directors/Accompanists!

ACTOR THERAPY with RSO and Lindsay Mendez (daily 1:30p—3p)
Just like a golden age standard, this class never goes out of style. Lindsay and RSO will focus on each student’s individual needs- maximizing strengths while recognizing and helping improve weaknesses. Audition technique, book building, marketing your type, and ultimately discovering yourself as an artist are all components of this amozzzzing class.

ART & BIZ with RSO and Sierra Boggess
Break down how to successfully interpret a song for an audition or performance from the writer’s perspective. Then, we’ll discuss how to explore your own original artist, a respite from all that focusing on the colder side of the business.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS TALKS* with Various Guests (second week, 3p–4p)
Meet with academic faculty who oversee college admissions or instruct at the top musical theatre programs in the country. Previous guests have come from University of Michigan, Pace University, NYU, and many more.

MASTER CLASSES with a different Broadway Pro every day! (daily 4:00p—5:00p)
All of the above and 10 master classes to boot? (How’s that for a resume builder…)  Scheduled to join us are Ben Fankhauser, Derek Klena, Etai Benson, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Julia Murney, Katie Rose Clarke, Lindsay Mendez, Sam Pinkleton, Taylor Iman Jones, Telly Leung, and Wes Taylor!

Each class will enroll approximately 16 students, so class sizes are small to emphasize maximum attention per student.

But wait there's more below ... ! In addition, each student will learn how to create their own reels, which will then be submitted to industry professionals (which may include actors, agents, casting directors, and college admissions faculty) on the final day of each session, with students highlighting material they’ve been working on, curated by their instructors.

F.A.Q.S

What if I’m currently enrolled in your in-person Summer Intensive and want to switch, or I enroll in the online Intensive and want to switch to in-person?
Not a problem! Email us about what you’d like to do and we’ll help you make the switch (additional fees may apply).

I’m more of a singer-actor than dancer, or more dancer-actor than singer … is this still the right program for me?
As long as you have some level of experience in singing, acting and dancing, it’s totally normal to have strengths or weaknesses, and this program is perfectly designed to help students with their individual needs!

How many students will be enrolled in each program?
Roughly 16 students will be enrolled in each Program.

I have a conflict with one or more days of my session.  Can I still enroll?
We allow up to one pre-approved day of conflict. (Known conflicts must be submitted at time of application.  No conflicts are allowed on the first day of each session, or the final day of each session - which is the day of the student showcase.)

How are teachers and artists selected to lead classes and workshops?
RSO and Lindsay personally select each teacher/artist based on their knowledge and skill level in their related area of expertise relating to theatre and performing arts.

Are there any discounts?
Yes!

• If you take both sessions: 10% off combined post-scholarship tuition.
• AEA (Equity) Member: 10% off post-scholarship tuition.
• Two or more siblings taking the program: 5% off both post-scholarship tuitions.
• Previous students of Actor Therapy: contact us for your special returning rate!

What if my plans change and I can no longer attend the workshop I signed up for.  What options do I have for refunds?
Both the deposit and the balance, once paid, are non-refundable.  That said, if a student must cancel their attendance between paying the deposit and paying the balance, then only the deposit is forfeited.

I have another question … How do find out more?
