What is the Broadway Writers’ Studio?

Sing for the writers of your favorite shows.

Broadway Writers’ Studio is a new Actor Therapy class where musical theatre performers get the rare opportunity to sing directly for the composers, lyricists, and bookwriters creating the shows of today — and tomorrow.

Each week, students will perform for a different Broadway writer or writing team and hear directly from the source: what they listen for, how they think about storytelling, what makes a performance useful to a writer, and how actors can build the kind of artistry that gets them invited into rooms where new work is being made.

This class is part performance opportunity, part Q&A, part career education — designed for actors who want to better understand how new musicals are developed, how writers see performers, and how to become the kind of actor writers remember.
